My battle with ET started 20 years ago when I noticed I was getting extreme itching after a shower. I have not had that issue again until now and I was trying to figure out why? I belong to Lifetime fitness and noticed I never have an issue when showering there. Then it clicked that a few months ago when the itching came back I had a new water heater with a soft water system ( salt) installed. A few days ago I shut off the softener and my itching stopped. I keep hearing from the companies that install these systems it should not cause this but it does as I remember my old house when the itching started also had a system. If you are having this issue you may want to check this out if you have a salt system . If anyone else has solutions for this itching please let me know.

Itching solution for some
I have had itching after showers tho my doc said it’s often associated with hot water and to maybe finish off with a cooler shower.
It’s summer here in Oz so I’ve been having cool showers and no itching 👌🏻
I doubt it is that simple...but lucky for you if it is. I had it so bad two years ago that I did not shower for 9 months. It is far less bad now but colder showers and NO aggressive towel rubbing help.IAquagenic pruritis is an an allergy caused by water and associated with PV.
I, too, did not shower for many months. Washed up at the sink and still had itching. I finally started Jakafi( low dose) and it has eliminated 80% of the itching Iy has been a huge relief and if thatvis a possible pathway for you, I would pursue it!
Totally agree with this, my mum also had very bad itching and as soon as she was put on Jakavi, within 1 week it lessened and 4 weeks later, itch free.
as a former PV Olympian itcher I’ve never heard of it but if it works for you (and maybe others) fantastic , we all hate the itch monster 😀
Interesting findings, I used to be very itchy after hot showers but cold where soothing but now is opposite - cold shower makes me itchy where as hot doesn't. It's temporary for about 15 to 30min after showers, thus I don't use any anti histamine yet. I have no clue why it's happening this way.
