Sustained serious right leg and thigh injury last week with bruises that would win gold medal at the Olympics, and it’s now 3 times the size of the left knee. Haha! Hospital took X-ray and bloodtest. No fractures. Hospital gave me a walking stick. I had gone to get the car serviced and the return journey took 90 mins , owing to road works , when it is usually 25mins. Swung leg out of car when I parked near home and couldn’t stand. Young woman passerby rescued me and drove me to my front door.

Never in my 81 years have I experienced this sort of condition so would welcome tips on how to manage it. Absence of Peg interferon throughout Uk means Hydrae may be prescribed unti Peg available again next year.

Sorry - no major useful advice for you but wanted to wish you a speedy recovery; sounds painful and difficult. Good to hear a passer by came to your aid when you got stuck. It’s easy to be a bit shaken after an accident; keeping things as normal as possible can help ( without overdoing it!).

Sounds to me like a soft tissue injury, time is going to be the best healer. if I was you though I would try and book a physio appointment, some GP have them at the surgery.

And the most important: an antiinflamatory diet and helping your microbiote because it means you have inflamation in your body and it keep the immune system activated. We have enought with our disease. No more activation.

I have experienced monster hip bruising from a fall in the past. It was quite severe and very painful. There was nothing to be done other that taking some acetaminophen and resting it. It took about 3 months to heal.

Hope you are feeling better soon.

Thank you Hunter. I have had to board my dog with usual lady dog boarder who takes him when I’m on holiday. This works out less pricey than hiring 2 or 3 dog walkers during the day. Dog loves her and also has the company of a couple of other pooches she happens to be boarding.

rest, ice pack - (max of 10 mins at a time), compression ( like a tubi grip) and elevation will all help.

If a walking stick is not giving you enough support, crutches may be more helpful.

I personally find a little arnica cream really helps with bruises, but works best the quicker it’s used .

I go to fisiotherapy and he uses Bemer, Scenar, and Indiva for my extremities. He finally massage my back totally. It helps me. Bemer works with microcirculation, Scenar works with homeostasis of the body and Indiva work with deep tissues. But I dont know why happens it. Good luck!

Definitely use ice, in short burst, 29 mins max. I had always thought that it was only effective immediately after injury but after badly bruising my elbow in the summer I found it was still effective in reducing the swelling over a week later. Good luck!
