Besremi has been such a positive change for my husband who switch to it from Hydroxyurea due to side effects that were unbearable.
He’s only been on it for several months now, but since the latest increase in dosage to 250mcg he has had open mouth sores which have been really problematic. The Stanford specialist replied that they have not seen that side effect. The only thing that we can attribute it to is the increase in dosage. It’s been a problem for a month.
I’m wondering if anyone on here has heard of or experienced this side effect

I haven’t heard of this particularly, but I know it can cause dental issues so doesn’t seem that big of a stretch. Does he have any past dental issues? Other thought and this is my dermatology brain stretching is lichen planus can cause this which is an autoimmune thing. Magic mouthwash is usually great for both issues. You may want to start at the dentist but you may also end up at the dermatologist. I can see how it could possibly be related but should be able to manage and stay on Besremi, I would think. Hope this helps.
Hi, if you are describing a mouth ulcer and it lasts more than 2-3 weeks then I think you should visit a dentist or oral surgeon. It may well be related to the medication but oral cancer does happen. Best to you, have it checked if necessary.
