The nail was taken completely taken off and a biopsy was done centrally and vertically, in the area where the dark line was showing on the nail and a came out with four stitches. Local injections definitely not nice, but procedure beyond that painless. Since the aenesthetic wore off the thumb is surprisingly painful and I am taking the pain meds prescribed. I am sure this will go in time, but at the moment it is quite restricting my activities, especially gardening.
I will take around 3 weeks for the histology to come back so will try and park it and get on with life.
I will let you know when I hear more.
Thanks for all the supportive messages.

I relate to nail removal, one if mine was entirely pulled off on an accident. Same here, the local anesthetic injection was not comfortable. All healed with that finger slightly shorter.
Glad you found a dermatologist that would do it and sounds like they did it properly. I only have one physician in my group that will do them. Keep us posted and praying it is benign, but let us know! Melanoma treatment is changing and as usual immunotherapy is becoming a gold standard for MM deeper than 2.5mm. It is amazing to see drugs like this come to the forefront. Considering interferon is basically a form of immunotherapy. Will keep you in my prayers but know I see lots of people with melanoma that do well. So will be praying for you!!! And ice and elevation can help!😊
artydutch waiting is always so hard. Hope you can find things to occupy your time over these next few weeks. I'm sure you are happy the biopsy part is behind you. Wishing you the best possible outcome.
