Diagnosis update

So I had a call with Locum Haematologist today. She has asked Dr Mark Drummond for advice on my case as “i am unusual”. Requested CALR & MPL tests also. Put me forward for a Bone Marrow Biopsy which is will happen in next few weeks.

I am getting closer to an outcome.

On holidays to Dubai in 4 weeks so had hoped for diagnosis by then but not likely.

Did you need a referral from your GP to get to see Mark Drummond privately?

Morning Rachel - I saw Mark at the spire hosp in Edinburgh. You book on line - and the initial cost is £200.00. If you’re going to see him, make sure you have as many of your medical records as you can gather. I had bloods, BMB results and correspondence between my gp and the hospital. He’s a lovely man.

Hi Rachel. I have a private appointment booked with Mark at The Spires. I needed a GP referral. He only does Monday evenings so I booked it in March and the first available appt was end of June. I was diagnosed with ET (CALR) at 32 in 2004 and have never seen an MPN specialist and don’t feel as though I am getting the best information (or in fact any information! ) so decided to see Mark privately after checking hunter5582s really helpful list. I called The Spires and they told me what I needed. Tanya

Hi Rachel.Do you know how I can view/access the list of MPN specialists that you mention above please?

I tried searching for hunter5582s but couldn’t find them.

Many thanks

Matt

Hi, I went via a GP referral, my insurance paid for it, as it was for a second opinion. Good advice to have records with you. Enjoy your holiday when it comes and try to forget about your medical problems. Aime x😻

You may get the blood test results before you go. Perhaps that will get you an answer sooner rather than later. Hope you enjoy your trip to Dunbai.
