Sharp pain in forearm followed by a big bruise. Something to worry about?

I was having tea and reading when I felt a sharp, stinging pain in my arm. This was followed by a gumball sized lump that turned into a bright red bruise. I did not hit that arm. I was just chilling out.

Is this something to be concerned with?

This sounds like a hemorrhagic event, bleeding under the skin with no known cause. It should be considered an emergent symptom that needs prompt attention. I would have considered calling the after hours emergency number for the hematology practice when it happened. they could best advise you. It is your call on whether it has resolved on its own for now. I would certainly call it in ASAP if you do not want to contact after-hours.

Please do let us know how things play out.

Definitely worth getting that checked out asap.

Even if it seems to have resolved spontaneously this time, you need to understand more about what caused it any precautions you can take to prevent another and possibly more serious episodes.

Hope all goes OK!
