integrated cancer care appointment

I have appointment At university Hospital London in October. It ties in nicely with one at Guys . Booked transport and place to stay.

I got another appointment a couple of weeks ago for March next year (phone appointment).

Thought this odd . Luckily I decided to confirm today this was as well as one in October….. (by email).

to my surprise October cancelled and supposedly a letter had been sent….

I rang . Had a chat to secretary. Telling her I have booked transport, expressing disappointment. After a bit she said one appointment available that is 2 hours earlier.

We have to be pro active every step of the way don’t we…….!!!!!

glad you asked , we are so fortunate in Uk to still have a few NHS clinics.

An integrative approach to cancer care aims to treat the whole person, not just the disease. At our clinic, we combine mainstream cancer therapies with evidence-based complementary treatments that support patients physically, emotionally, and spiritually. The goal is to optimize health, quality of life, and healing throughout the cancer journey.

Integrative cancer care views you as a whole human being rather than just a diagnosis. We take the time to understand each patient’s unique circumstances, health history, priorities, and concerns. This enables us to develop a personalized integrative treatment plan suited to your individual needs and situation.

Our integrative care team works closely with you while providing access to the most current scientific research on complementary cancer therapies. You are empowered to take an active role in the healing process with our support and guidance.

We believe this is the future of effective cancer care – integrating conventional and complementary modalities to address all aspects of your health. With our integrative approach, you can face cancer with resilience, strength, and hope.

I often think as an ET patient under the care of a haematology team that I am somehow missing out on any attempt at a holistic approach to my condition both physically and mentally. I have mentioned this at my clinic appointments and the doctor agreed the situation is not perfect. So may I ask how we go about receiving this sort of input, we do after all have a cancer, but it seems the cancer we have is not seen in the same light as a 'real cancer'. If we are under the care of a haematologist is it possible that we can also be referred to oncology to enable us to benefit from the holistic care which they provide? I feel quite strongly about this situation but do not want to make a big fuss so any information would be helpful. Many thanks.

It’s always worth talking to either you GP or haematologist . Explain why you wish for a referral ,my Gp was happy to write a letter .feel fortunate to have Guys AND integrative team as part of my care .

Things often don’t get offered … so as always we need to speak up…..

good luck , let us know what response is…

I did bring this up with my haem doc stating that i felt disappointed that there was no holistic approach, he agreed but did nothing about it. I am now under the wing of Guys after emailing prof Harrison myself, a joint care arrangement which I am happy with, I am due to change from hydroxy to pegasys next week...feeling quite excited!

I have been a patient at the MPN service at UCH for a couple of years now. This is the first I have heard of the Integrated Cancer Care service at UCH. It will be very interesting to hear your feedback Mostew if you wish to share it.
