One year on!

There has been a discussion on here today about how fantastically supportive this group is. I would like to add my voice to this on this, my first Re-Birthday! On 1st September 2022 I watched new healthy stem cells trickle into my veins giving me my life back. I am so grateful to everyone who cared for me and, of course, to my wonderful donor. And thank you to all of you who have supported me and shared your own stories. I'm not out of the woods yet - still having venesections for high ferritin and donor lymphocyte infusions - but I'm getting there. Best wishes to you all, Jennie

Congratulations Jennie your first re-birthday is a true milestone , , , obviously the SCT route isn't without risk but the reward if successful is getting ones life back albeit perhaps not quite as it used be but once you get blood cancer your life changes from thereon anyway. The key thing is you get a second chance which many sadly don't have as an option.

By coincidence it's my 8th re-birthday on the 4th. And I count myself extremely fortunate because in those 8 years we have welcomed 4 more Grand-Children into our family and that makes all the GVHD and endless hospital stays / visits worth it.

Thanks for sharing your experiences honestly because I'm sure others will be grateful especially if it helps inform them and gives them confidence should they be considering treading the same path as we have.

Cool that is wonderful news to learn that you are doing so well... Warwick, one of MATES members who is just over Two years in is still having a few battles too... But he is looking and feeling much more like his old-self...

Warwick is actually in the UK right now participating in the World Cup for "Walk-Up" Soccer

I was hoping to Post a few pics however, they have not materialised as yet...

So great to see Warwick out there living his life all the same...
