First dose of Besremi today (100 mg)

Hi,

I'm on my way to get a routine phlebotomy and an introduction on how to self-inject Besremi. My prescription has me starting at 100mg. I thought it was 50, but I misread. I hope all goes well!

Good luck! I asked my doctor to reduce to 50mg for my first dose. The nurse said the prescription didn't show that so she went and got his permission. I'm sure 100mg will be fine as well.

The 50mcg dose is for transition from HU. I did that procedure. The idea is to not overshoot the blood numbers. If starting without HU it's 100.

The company that makes it wants everyone to go to the high doses quickly, but for me and others on the forum, it's not the best idea. Better to increase it carefully while watching your blood counts and overall feeling.

All the best on the first injection. Note that 100mcg is the standard starting dose for someone who is treatment-naive. The 50mcg starting dose is recommended for someone switching from hydroxyurea.
