I am taking Hydroxy Carbamide for ET 500mg daily and 1000 on Sundays to good effect with no problems. I have recently broken my humerus bone (2weeks ago) and feel that there has been little improvement. I asked my haematology consultant whether HC can slow down healing and he was very non-comital. Does anyone have any experience of bone healing?

I’ve taken Hydroxycarbamide for nine years and had a distal radius fracture earlier this year. The cast was off the expected 6 weeks later and it healed just fine. I learned afterwards I have osteoporosis too but that’s probably a genetic problem and I’m assured nothing to do with Hydroxycarbamide.
Perhaps 2 weeks is early days yet. I hope you feel better about it soon.
I have had 3 fractures while on hydroxycarbamide and all 3 have healed normally
I had 2 fractures in my back 2 years ago and broke the 'small' bone in my leg last February, all healing well. I'm 80 and have been on HU since 2011. I hope you do well ..... Sallie
