Diverticulitis

Currently suffering a really painful bout of diverticulitis, I guess it being inflammatory this condition makes it worse. Could see a gp, got to a nurse who at least gave me antibiotics hopefully they will kick in soon. The cramps and stomach pain seem to be radiating in all directions I have the chills so bad I am shaking, for the most part cold is a rare complaint...

Sat in pjs, socks dressing gown and have a blanket grandson wanted a pic as proof I was cold 😂 threatened him with baby pics to his girlfriend .... 😂

oh my goodness sounds awful? I didn’t know diverticulitis can affect you this way, sounds horrible! How long have you had this? Hope you feel better very soon! X

Thank you I have know about it for 10 years. Flare ups as bad as current one are thankfully not common, hope it stays that way.

Hi ciye , I have had ET for 30,years and some Diverticulitis for 10 years and its worse now especially at nights. Have not had fever with it like your getting. Wonder if its an effect of Hydroxy carbamide? all the best Town Crier

Thank you. I was diagnosed 10 years ago after collapsing at home, I had been discharged by A&E hours earlier. I had gone thinking it was appendicitis was on iv antibiotics for 4 days and a 10 day oral course. This is first time since its been bad enough for me to consider going back to A&E. Fingers crossed antibiotics starting to work.

Hydroxy & low dose aspirin

same as me , will ask my team if its possible that there is some causal issues here , anybody else has these effects?

I have had diverticulitis for many years. I was diagnosed with ET 6 years ago and the meds seem not to have had any effect on it. If it starts I get antibiotics asap and that seems to clear it.

I have porridge oats (raw or hot) with fruit every morning which seems to keep it at bay.

One thought - It seemed like I was getting it more often a couple of years ago, but it turned out that taking asprin as a blood thinner was the problem after a few years. I now have clopidogrel which has had no side effects.

I had multiple flairs of diverticulitis while on HU. Been off of it since March and have had no problems. It may have been purely coincidental.
