I had not seen this AE listed before, but it is apparently a known issue.

mayoclinic.org/drugs-supple...

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

cracked, dry, scaly skin

crusting, irritation, itching, or reddening of the skin

I do not know much about face creams but the Adapalene Gel I am using causes the same issue. I have been using CereVe PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion. It seems to be effective. I am sure there are others on the forum who know a lot more about facial moisturizers than I do. I am sure you will get other suggestions that ay work even better.

Jeni my skin has reacted to the injection area red & itching still after 6 days . Had to put gauze over area to help it calm from rubbing on jeans. I actually use baby oil on face & skin overnight. The one with Aloe Vera in . Johnson’s it helps my dry skin Julia .

Yes & me re cold sores. Took over a week to calm down with Zovirax. I told the woman Doc at Haemotology about all of it & was glared at & told ET was not causing any of these symptoms. Then she wrote prescription for Inteferon & put my first dose at 90. I politely told her it had to be 45 at first treatment in case my body rejected it. She glared at me & rang pharmacy who told her exactly what I said. With which she sighed told me my prescription was waiting & got up & left without even asking about my current health or how to administer injection .

Not my usual Haemotology Dr so hopefully won’t see her again with awful attitude 🙈

I have gone from having combination skin to very dry skin on interferon. I moved to using a cream cleanser (from soap) and a heavy moisturizing cream. My products are from Riversol which is a Canadian company and not sure it is available in the UK.

As Hunter said the CeraVe product line is good for sensitive skin, also has a reasonable price point. The line has some really good moisturizers for face and body and gentle cleaners too. I have mild ichthyosis on my legs and arms and their body moisturizer for extremely dry, rough skin is the best I have ever found.

My skin is looking fine now with every day morning and night moisturizing and the occasional gentle glycolic peel for the fine flakes. Time helped too as I have been on interferon for 1.5 years.

Best of luck for you in your interferon journey. Lauren

I usually get a mild "aqueous pruritus" itch after shower, but this started only after I switched to IFN. It is a known possible effect of IFN. On HU it did not happen. Not a problem so far but new. Strangely no itch from a hot bath/tub.

I used Argan oil. I didn’t know it came in cream form.
