Has anyone with ET had problems with mozzie bites midges etc.

Mine come up enormous & area around it stays swollen & red & itchy for days after. Antihistamine tablets do not have much effect . 🙈

Just had my first mossie bite this year and big itchy bump on my knee that was difficult to leave alone. Felt lovely to scratch it😂Used ‘Boots bite and sting relief with antihistamine cream’, comes in a yellow box and it definitely helped

What is the relationship between ET and bites????

My Haemotology consultant told me at last platelets count that bites & covid increases platelets.

Oh ok.. thats a new information! As for COVID, do you know it that platelet count returns on its normal state after one's covid is over?

They are giving it 3 months with me without my medication before I start again as I had Covid July & bad midge bites that raised platelets. Blood will be checked again in few days . Julia 👍

In a word, yes: 15 mozzie bites during the very hot weather (one doing the rounds in my bedroom).

Time is the only healer, I think. Three weeks on and some are still red…

Well might be just you? Our younger daughter is horribly affected by bites and she has no health issues at all. Always a good idea though to keep an eye on bites in case they become infected. I have PV and also get red swollen bites. Cream and antihistamines help though so I’m lucky ! Louise

Hi Julia. Apparently Avon Skin so soft ( although not marketed as an insect repellent) works quite well at repelling mozzies. Might be worth googling it for info? I ve just bought some to take on hol next week xx

After a round of golf last week, I had multiple bites on my ankles, never saw them so not sure what they were, played in the evening. The only thing that worked for me was to scratch them (intense scratching) until all the itching stopped for a second and then rub in copious amounts of hand sanitizer. Itching stopped almost immediately, came back the next day, repeated the same treatment and itching went away and never came back. Worked for me, my wife had the same result, don't know why. Not a Dr so this is not a recommendation, just what we did and had great relief. Everyone's results may vary. Good luck with whatever works for you.

I will try that too . I know when overseas sailing they used to tell us to rub soap on it immediately but didn’t get to this in time & bloods seem to have erupted in area . Maybe a Superman Mozzie 🤣👍Julia.

Twice I’ve ended up with cellulitis after bites & my skin remains discoloured after more than a year . I also need several courses of antibiotics to deal with it . I have lymphedema as a result of all the above #Glitchinthesystem 🤦‍♀️

Thnx I will get Dr to double check it 👍

Yes! I take an allergy pill and use benadryl anti ich spray - which is the only thing that has ever worked for my annoying bites…

I find Eurex cream really helps. Recently came back from Greece and had quite a few bites. Seemed to stop the intense itching
