I just noticed that the Palm side of my fingers are shriveling up like they do if you’re in water a long time. Maybe I’m washing my hands too much and need to wear gloves more. Has anybody else had this problem? I started using Argan oil And that helps the peeling on my skin.

Given the timing, it would be reasonable to ask a question about whether this is a HU side effect. Do note, however, that the skin adverse effects tend to be associated with long-term use.
Suggest you keep an eye on this and other skin issues. Please be sure to follow up with your care trasm and keep them apprised of what is going on.
I am not on meds yet and ET CaLR but I have noticed for a few months that’s exactly what I have but due to only recently being diagnosed, although my bloods confirmed the diagnosis back in November last year (delay on hospital referral due to change GP surgeries and different NHS foundations) I have been lost to what the heck this was…. Obviously I am not sure if this is the same reason but I have been wondering what/why. As I speak now the last few weeks I have started getting tingling in my finger ends especially in the mornings, yet my shriveling seems to have ‘plumped out’ a little…. Mystery, mystery there are so many things that are unusual 😟
One of the symptoms I had right before I started hydroxy was a burning in my fingertips. I never had that before and once I started hydroxy it has not come back. I did read that that was one of the symptoms of ET
You are correct about the tingling in fingers being a symptom of MPNs. It is likely a microvascular issue and can escalate into erythromelalgia. Fortunately aspirin can really help with this issue. Hydroxy can help as well.
I have the same problem - in fact all my skin is very dry since being on Hydroxy and I’ve been using doublebase cream which was recommended on here and certainly helps and is long lasting.
I recently replied to you on this post about wrinkling fingers ends on palms. I was just wondering if you had been able to ask the docs about this yet?
I recently started on IFN injections couple of weeks ago, although don’t think this is related as I had it before…
I am asking as mine appears to have come back again now really bad, it’s to the point that when typing like this my finger ends feel as though they don’t belong to my hands and it’s like I don’t have a ‘fingerprint’ if you get what I mean.
Example: doing the fingerprint to open your phone or iPad as such, it isn’t registering it as though I don’t have any fingerprint left due to them being so wrinkly (as though being in water for hours on end)
I am at a total loss with this at the minute. I am at the hospital tomorrow and will ask, although I am aware sometimes if the docs haven’t heard about it as a symptom as such they just tend to dismiss it…..🫤
I did not ask yet. My friend who is five years older than me has them too and he’s not on any medication for ET so I just assumed it was old age. Let me know what the doctor says. Thanks
well I went to my appointment today but actually saw another doc (but one that apparently is ok) he was fine and I did mention this about the shrivelling on fingers, he looked (although wasn’t as bad this morning) but was a bit perplexed as he states he hasn’t come across this before, therefore nothing else really said on the matter…
Let me know if you need get any joy Winchie when you see your specialist please, just interesting….. 🙃
Thank you for the information. I talked to my specialist this morning but I had other things to bring up with him so I didn’t want to overwhelm him. Maybe next time if it gets worse.
