Peginterferon with Anagrelide?

Hi, does anyone out there have experience of taking peginterferon with Anagrelide for ET? Until about 6 mths ago I was taking a mixture of Hydrea and Anagrelide but it was no longer working so well so I switched to interferon. I’m on the max dose of 180 weekly but platelets are still 650ish and as an active person I’m struggling with the tiredness and fatigue. My consultant has therefore recommended dialling back the interferon to 90 in the hope that helps with the tiredness and fatigue but adding Anagrelide to make up the difference. If anyone has similar experience I’d be grateful to hear how you got on. Many thanks, Rob

Hi, until recently I was on anagralide plus interferon, latterly pegasys. 1.5mg anag twice daily and, latterly, Peg at 90 microg per 3 weeks. My history was quite complicated and when only on anag about 6 years ago my hem wanted to increase the dose, but I had a poor cardiac response, so I was put on straight inf- a. That didn't work (plts went up) so hem was muttering about busulfan etc, which I wanted to avoid (can't tolerate hydroxy). So at my suggestion we tried both, with good results. When Roche stopped making plain inf- a I changed to peg and over 3 years the peg dose was reduced until it was stopped about a year ago. Since then I have just been on anag, with acceptable plts.
