Oh, poor you, how very unpleasant. I don't think antibiotics would help, as shingles is. caused by a virus, not a bacterial infection. I do hope you get well soon.
Sorry to hear that, i felt awful when i had it.
It is unfortunately a case of just taking time to get over it.
Hope you feel better soon
Shingles is a virus so acylivor 5 times a day is the recommended dose. Sometimes you can have a course of steroids with it but that's usually if you have complications from the virus. Shingles is horrible. I had a complication of the virus a few years ago called ramsay hunt syndrome. Honestly not nice. Just try to rest.
Antibiotics could be prescribed if you develop complications too. Hopefully you should be OK.
I hope you get over the shingles quickly, my wife had shingles just before Christmas, and was given a half dose of Aciclovir because she was a little late in being diagnosed with it. She had it on her right ear and behind her ear and throat. She still suffering from itching of her scalp around the ear. Luckily no damage to hearing. Her neutrophils are really really high.
My husband is on Aciclovir 400mg twice daily. He was prescribed these as a preventive treatment. He's been on these over 2 years now. He's got PMF and on JAKAVI 20mg twice daily.Hope you have a speedy recovery.
Hi Tartanlady, sorry to hear that you have shingles, I hope it clears away soon. You need to ask your GP this question, he/she will advise about this. Best wishes, Maz
