I want to thank everyone for replying to my post about Plavix and PV. I have an appointment with my hematologist in late January and will have lots to talk about with him. I hope that I can have some positive blood test results.

Wondering if anyone else is experienced fatigue when they started taking Plavix? If yes, did it get better or do you still have that fatigue? I feel so tired all the time and did not feel that way before I started taking the Plavix.

This is a great resource for me and I appreciate everyone's time.

Roberta

I do not take Plavix (clopidogrel )myself. But here are a few links to issues with fatigue.

"Clopidogrel may cause side effects. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away: excessive tiredness."

medlineplus.gov/druginfo/me...

"Plavix may cause symptoms of tiredness or weakness for multiple reasons. Plavix increases the risk of bleeding, and individuals may feel more tired than usual if blood loss occurs. High levels of blood loss can also lead to low blood pressure, which also causes weakness, dizziness, and fatigue. Tiredness may also be a sign of the potentially fatal condition TTP. Individuals that have excessive tiredness or any other symptoms of TTP while taking Plavix should consult their healthcare provider. "

Fatigue is one of the most common constitutional symptoms of MPNs. The timing of the fatigue you are experiencing, however, is suspicious as a potential Plavix adverse effect. The good news is that if Plavix is the problem there are alternatives. If aspirin will not work for you then the newer class of blood thinning medications - NOACs like Eliquis - are safer and tend to have fewer adverse effects (particularly bleeding).

Hope you get answers soon.
