Kidney pain

Hi

I appreciate that Peg may cause various aches and pains in some cases.

However I was wondering if any one experienced quite severe kidney pain when taking Peg?

I started taking Peg 4 weeks ago(45mg weekly)

Thanks

Bobbie

Hi Bobbie, how would you describe your kidney pain ? What makes you think the pain is coming from the kidneys ?

Hi Manouche, deep (localised) left sided low lumbar, unlike normal back pain, extreme fatigue. Not sure if my symptoms are Peg /PV related.,hence posting here. Bobbie

Hi Bovv Bobadog, you are describing a pain on the lower back. The kidneys are right under the lowest ribs, not quite on the lower back. IMO, your pain is unlikely to be related to Pegasys.

Have you recent blood numbers? On starting PEG your Dr should be checking bloods often including kidney functions. Your dose is not high but...

In this reference:

drugs.com/sfx/pegasys-side-...

<<Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur while taking peginterferon alfa-2a>> Among that long list is <<lower back or side pain>>

Likely no issue but best to discuss with your Dr esp since you say "quite severe". Medical things that change a lot and suddenly and don't go away are worth looking onto.

Hi ETVery many thanks for the message and link.I’m actually seeing my Dr (local haematologist)on Monday , and I will flag this up.

I do appreciate we all have to tolerate certain side effects with Peg ,and other ddugs, but this deep side lumbar pain is very different from my usual back pain.

It’s responding to increased painkillers now which is some relief.

Thankyou ,

Best wishes,

Bobbie
