Hi everyone. I had a consultation with haematologist yesterday. I have ET. They had asked me to do extra blood tests for immunology and earlier this week I had to go for an ultrasound scan on my abdomen. I’ve been using Pegasys for two and a half years, 90mcg every three weeks. Everything was mostly ok but evidently I now have a touch of diabetes and early signs of fatty liver. Haematologist said to take Pegasys every four weeks and next appointment will be February. I know Pegasys is associated with diabetes and fatty liver. Has anyone else had a similar outcome?

Hi. I had diabetes diagnosis before myelofibrosis diagnosed. I went on an ultra low carb diet and effectively eradicated the diabetes in about 6 months. After I get the myelofibrosis diagnosis I went back to a normal diet and my blood sugar remained at pre-diabetes levels. When I started Pegasys my blood sugar has gradually crept back up again to worrying levels, pretty much in step with the increasing Pegasys dose. I think I am going to have to go back to the ultra low carb diet again and see if I can get the blood sugar levels under control again
