Should I go ahead with booster vaccination

I am in a quandry about whether to have booster vaccination?

Hi, I have JAK2 ET and have had 2 covid jabs without any side effects.

I also have menieres disease which in the past 2 weeks (also had flu jab3 weeks ago) I have been slightly unwell with though not in the past 5/6 years has this happened.

I have booked my booster jab but now wondering whether I should go ahead with this in case it sparks a reacurrence of menieres?

Has anyone got any ideas about this please. Many thanks.

Hey,

Maybe have a chat with your consultant/GP but, just my opinion, if you did not have a serious reaction as you have said to the first ones, i would go for it.

Me , I’d get the booster; its a question of balancing risks.

I would say go for it. I have had third jab, arm a bit sore and a slight temperature for twenty four hours, but better to have than take the risk of getting covid and being really unwell.Jean

I had mine last week and everything fine just sore arm. You should have it.

On balance having the jab is probably the least risky route in the current climate. It maybe that the recurrence of the menieres is purely co-incidental. Definitely chat over with your GP.

What concerns me is that you are talking about having the booster rather than the third primary vaccine. You’ll see from the multiple threads on this Forum in the past few weeks that there is a significant difference. Do please check what you are being given. Wishing you well.

Hi, yes I saw that the Pfizer is the best one, am checking with the surgery where I have appointment. Such a great site this isn't it. Bit confusing all this "booster" and third vaccination talk isn't it!

It’s only confusing because the government screwed up the roll out and left health providers in the dark. The ‘third vaccine’ and the ‘booster’ programmes are two completely separate initiatives.

Please make sure you are given the third primary vaccine, that it’s a full dose - ie not the Moderna (half dose) vaccine - and that it is recorded properly on your records so you get called for the booster in six months. (Rant over :))) )

I just researched your condition not pleasant. I honestly think we all need a booster jab unless otherwise stated by the doctor. Just make sure your diary is clear for a few days after the jab in case of a reaction.

Good luck.

I have yet to hear any serious medical professional not advocate for all vaccines for our disease group(not just covid, but shingles, flu, etc), which makes total sense as we are, at the least, somewhat compromised. I am sure there are exceptions that would be made, but those are rare conditions, and should only be made by a real professional mpn specialist, not a layman. I had 2 Pfizer vaccines (in April and again in June), followed by a full dose Moderna in September. The Moderna was the only one I had any form of reaction to at all, and it was gone in a day or two. I have very serious mf, and at the time was transfusion dependent. I don't have menieres, but I do have hearing issues and tinnitus, which gets worse when my disease symptoms get worse. There are studies out that show mf patients that get covid survive poorly, but don't have too much trouble with the vaccine. Why would any one take a chance?
