Abnormal bloodwork

I have decided to see a different Hematologist. Bloodwork was done and I don't know what to think.

RBC low 3.75

HCT low 36.4%

MCH high 33.7

MPV low 7.3

Lymphs high 41%

Baso high 3%

Chloride low 97 mEq/L

Uric Acid high 7.3 mg

Definitely something to review with a MPN Specialist. Unfortunately many hematologists lack the KSAs to provide optimal treatment for MPNs. Here are two lists.mpnforum.com/list-hem./

While it is impossible to say what is going on at this point, I would note that anemia and macrocytosis are both potential side effects of hydroxyurea. That would be something to review with your new hematologist to get a clear answer.

Hi Wilma,Please see an MPN specialist on the list provided by Hunter. I was diagnosed a year ago with ET. I have been to 2 hematologist/oncologist providers. I thought that I had found a good one with the second but he will not accept any input from me! With all my levels rising, particularly my hematocrit to 50.1, he will not answer me about considering that I may have PV and need phlebotomy. So, I am done with him! I found a MPN specialist at Vanderbilt in Nashville and see him on November 8. A hem/onc dr may know about MPN’s but they don’t have the credentials and detailed knowledge for treatment. Like others have said, we are all different in how we are affected. We need someone who really knows the intricacies of our disease.
