My sympathy! Waiting is horrible isn't it? How are you feeling now?

I am OK thanks, I think the longer wait is because my haematologist is on leave .

Not sure why you have to wait. My scan reports get released within a couple of days at the most. Right after the doc reviews it. I never wait for an appointment for the report. I also get a copy of the scan on a disk so I can see the images myself. Suggest you contact the imaging center or just log into the patient portal if they have one.

I think Indy22 is in the UK. In the NHS, scans are first interpreted, then the results sent to the requesting doctor. If a patient wants to know urgently, it's probably best to phone the haematology specialist nurse.

That should work too. The main thing is that the patient is the one who owns the information. The report belongs to the patient and belongs under the patient's control. It is the patient who should decide when to access the report.

Hunter, we are lucky to live in the US. We get our results a lot quicker here. The gears seem to move a lot slower in the UK.

NHS Scotland are usually quick with results for most things , I have had numerous tests and got results in a couple of days . My usual haematologist left to go back to China and they are now waiting for someone to take up the position so I have a stand in just now who is going on annual leave. So just have to wait longer than normal

Surely some doc can clear the report for release even if you can't see the doc in person until October. Maybe your GP can get the copy released for you. No reason to wait unless it really does not matter to you.

Well, I hope they find you a good hematologist soon. It’s very frustrating to have to wait.

Don’t wait . You can find out as soon as results ready .. no need for it to be urgent. We have a right to know what’s going on with our own bodies havnt we …

True, although personally I prefer to receive the information from my haematologist because she is in a position to explain the implications, how the measurements compare to "normal" etc. Then again, my haematologist is very helpful and supportive. Not everyone is so lucky.

I like to be for warned so I can have questions ready and research myself as to what the results mean . Then discuss with haematologist .

If you can access Patient Portal (enter nhs and your hospital initials into your browser with Patient Portal) and follow instructions to patient records. You may be able to find out all your results in less than a week.

Strange in our case it was an ultrasound and the results were given right then and there. Good luck hope that it will be positive news.
