My husband has this, or something very similar, and the muscular skeletal team said he has a growth in his tendon, a condition they had never seen before. He also has boney growths on his skeleton and terrible arthritis in his hands. He is waiting for an appointment with a rheumatologist so I can appreciate your pain

There are too many different things this could be to even try to guess what it is. Could be something very minor, but do not assume that it is. Suggest you get in to see the PCP/GP or maybe a podiatrist ASAP. Being in pain is enough reason to go.

Do please let us know how you get on.

Ok I did ring .y doctors up had a telephone appointment said could be inflammation arthritis or nerves something but give me some co-coDamols to take if when needed which it is getting worse with the pains and said if it doesn't get better within 2 weeks to ring back and to do a scan on my foot. Thankyou very much Xxx

Hope you get relief and an answer sooner than that. Did you discuss the possibility of a DVT with the doc? From what you are describing, I am thinking it is unlikely to be that, but did not want to just assume so. I have had something similar what you describe a couple of times. These were just corns. Very annoying/painful.

Hope you feel better ASAP.

I have osteoarthritis - tendonitis - and plantar fascitis in the feet. Never had a lump to accompany it though. I have concluded that having various things with "itis" attached just goes with the systemic inflammation we experience with MPNs. I have been having success with my treatment approach. I rarely use NSAIDs. If you are taking aspirin, they are flat out contraindicated due to the interactions.

I used to use prescription strength ibuprofen or meloxicam. Bad idea on top of aspirin. Also did not help. Also tried Lyrica - did not help and had side effects. My rheumatologist suggested I try Curcumin. To my surprise - it did work. Better than any NSAID I ever took. I have not taken a NSAID (other than very short-term) for over 4 years.

Because Curcumin and other supplements can interact with aspirin and other meds I consult with an Integrative medicine doc. My PCP recommended this as he did not know the supplements well enough to advise me. The Integrative Med doc agrees that all of the various "itis" I experience are the result of systemic inflammation related to the JAK2 mutation. Her tx recommendations are based on that premise. She also advises me regarding supplement-med interactions as these most certainly do occur,

Current inflammation regimen = Turmeric Curcumin complex w/ CurcuWIN 550mg bid, SPM Active 1 cap bid, L-Glutathione 250mg qd. I also use Diclofenac Sodium Topical Gel PRN - bid. I stick (mostly) to an anti-inflammatory diet. This combination greatly reduces pain and serves to keep me functional most of the time. I also practice QI Gong, which also helps. I also lost 50 pounds, which really helps as well.

I hope you find something that will work for you.

FYI - if you do decide to try Curcumin, be aware that the formulation matters. Turmeric/Curcumin does not readily pass into the bloodstream. It needs something to help it be more biologically active.

BTW - Curcumin does have some blood thinning effect. Generally Ok, but do be aware of it.

Thanks. Possible contamination in supplements is a good thing to stay aware of. good reason to stick with reliable brands.

Hi Jody. My heart goes out to you what a lot of pain to put up with. I have had pins and needles and pain for some time now and had it investigated recently it turns out I have spinal stenosis and am having surgery on 23rd August next I was told that I have no choice but to have the surgery, luckily I have a diligent well respected Neurosurgeon so fingers crossed all will go well. Hope you will get sorted soon. All the best
