post stem cell transplant covid question

I am now approaching 21 months post transplant (MF) and feeling well. My last consultation and bloods was about 3 months ago. I've only had phone consultations since March last year and so I'm hoping my next appointment, due in June, will be face to face at the QE B'ham where I had the transplant. I'm registered as extremely vulnerable and although I stopped taking immunosuppressant about 12 months ago I remain on antiviral and antibiotic medication. I had the Pfizer vaccine on 3rd Feb with no ill effects.

I am curious if anyone knows whether the vaccine's effectiveness is different for post-transplant patients. Also, after having the second shot, and assuming lockdown is eased, I am wondering whether I should continue to have to rigorously shield especially in light of the recent doubts over the level of protection afforded to those with (Or who've had...am I cured I also wonder?!) blood cancer.

Don’t know about how it affects us SCTers. Although Ten years out from SCT my GP put me in the vulnerable list as I have an “unusual immune system” so I have shielded. Post second jab I will continue to be very careful as the pandemic doesn’t seem to be choosy about who it strikes.Chris (Princess Leia version)

Thanks for the feedback. I suppose my thinking is along the lines of not going 'mad' post lock down and being sensible whilst getting on with life in as normal a fashion as possible. Flu is potentially bad and yet pre-covid I was going for my regular checkups on packed trains, still going to the pub and so forth without a care really so... I find asking Drs these sort of questions tends to get their lowest risk answer i.e. be very cautious, which is fair enough but as I approach my 60th having had a brush with the reaper I don't wan to hide away like a hermit.
