Pegasys- smouldering systemic mastocytosis

I was told I had to get injections to slow down mast cell production. When I got the prescription it said a form of chemotherapy? Anyone in my position? Not sure why if mastocytosis is not cancerous at my category

Hi, Is your prescription for Pegasys interferon injections? Pegasys is NOT a form of chemotherapy. It is more akin to immunotherapy. It is even safe for those that are pregnant. All the best, Susana

Mastocytosis is a blood cancer. That said. In mast cell diseases chemo drugs are used a lot to help control advanced disease progression. Its used in mcas as well as actual mastocytosis. By the way... My hemo confirmed masto as an mpn and blood cancer. Look it up. Its in thw line with pv and et and mf under mpns.
