I would not be surprised to hear that the first injection was not a big deal. It was not for me. I had no reaction at all. I did my first injection at the hematology office after a training session with the oncology nurse. Some doctors recommend that the first injection be observed, though it is quite rare for there to be a sudden reaction. I would suggest not waiting until Friday for your injection. that way if you have any issues or concerns that dic and staff will still be in their office for you to call. I do my injections on Wednesdays.

Wishing you success with the next stage of your journey,

Hi Nc3500,

Congrats on your approval, and don't worry too much- as usual Hunter is most likely correct, and it won't be too much of a big deal- mine w/ Besremi sure wasn't.

While I think statistically the odds are in your favor re: any possible reaction, starting when there's someone to call in case of a reaction makes sense.

Best,

PA

Good luck. Surprised you are not doing first injection with a nurse to show you how to do it. Shout out if you have any questions. The day you do the first jab will be the day you should stick to if you are on weekly injections so good to choose a day that’s not rushed. Let us know how you get on

Living with a nurse, she gave me tips on on injecting.

I've been on pega for some time. Took a few years yo get any real benefit, but now all OK..

I have set an alarm on my phone to remind me to take pega, system works well..

Understandable to be wary with any treatment change. Please keep us informed as you progress. I'm probably not far behind you on this journey. Very best wishes

I have also finally gotten my approval for Pegasys, but it is at a hefty cost. $796.00 for 4 viles of 180mcg. I am starting at 45mcg per week so that is not too bad. I hope I can get by on the low dose. It has taken me 4 months to get UHA to approve Peg and 3 appeals.

yes I know the cost oh mine is $650 🤦🏻‍♀️ but I’m willing to try anything to get back to my self

Yes! I am willing to do whatever it takes to get my life back as normal as possible. My ultimate goal is to get switched to Besremi, but my insurance will not entertain it until I have tried both HU and then Pegasys. Unfortunately I think the cost is about the same for Besremi.

if you look through this website you will see where some get multiple doses from one vial. I have also seen a discussion about this on another website.

The pharmacy told me to always throw away any left over Peg after each injection. I am starting with only 45mcgs and they expect me to throw out 135mcgs! They are crazy, I will get 4 weeks out of that vile. My co-pay is over $200 per vile.

I would think you need to use a fresh needle each time.

Yes I will absolutely use a new sterile needle for each injection. They tried to get me the preloaded dial in MCGs syringes, but they were out.

I just searched on this website for discussion on splitting doses of Pegasys. Just put “Disposal of Unused Pegasys Interferon.” There are quite a few replies on the subject.

I started my shot on a Wednesday night and was happy because in the first few months I experienced some insomnia 3 days later and since I wasn’t working on the weekend I could sleep in.

Take the shot an hour before bed and plan to sleep 8-10 hours if you can. So going to bed a 8-9pm that one day is great for the first few times. Flu like systems upon waking is also normal ( Tylenol helps with this) but generally only lasts a bit. These symptoms do go away after a few weeks /months of use for most people.

Hopefully you are one of they luck who experience NO issues.

After the needle relax for a short time and mentally give the drugs a target or assignment in your body. Search and destroy the disfunctional Jak2 gene, for example. Someone else suggested it and I have done it every time. Strengthen your mind body connection- take back the positive energy and release the negative.

Drink lots of water too🍻🥰
