I'm very new to my understanding of symptoms and possible causes, so I guess I'm looking for a bit of advice.
I'm b12 deficient and have been for nearly 3 years.
About a month ago I started to have extreme headaches and very sore eyes, the right one being more problematic and they are also very dry at times. I can suffer with fatigue due to my b12 deficiency but I self inject so I don't usually have too much trouble in this depart.
So my symptoms are a little weird. Fatigue, headaches, eye pain but sight is OK, pain under my right rib cage, pain on right side of pelvis and pain in my right leg/thigh and right arm.
I had bloods taken and all was normal apart from low monocytes 0.02 and high platelets 633.
I went to have more bloods taken today to recheck but 6 needles later they couldn't draw my blood so I shall try again on Friday.
May I ask if you think perhaps my platelets could be a fault and nothing to worry about or perhaps there is more going on.
I have read about ET and I'm hoping its not as I'm fed up with sickness
Thank you for reading and any advice is welcome.

Glad you found your way to this forum. It is a great place to get information and support.
Platelets at 633 = thrombocytosis. Thrombocytosis can either be primary (Essential) or secondary (caused by something else) Essential Thrombocythemia (ET) is a myeloproliferative neoplasm (MPN). At this point, it sounds like you do not know whether this is ET or a secondary thrombocytosis, It will take some additional testing to make this determination. (FYI - be sure you are really well hydrated before you go back in for more blood work - it helps).
Some of what you are describing could be MPN related, but is could also be something else entirely. One thing I would note is the following. "Thrombocytosis is a disorder in which the body produces too many platelets. An elevated platelet count can be temporary resulting from things such as excessive alcohol use, vitamin B12 deficiency, acute infection, or strenuous activity." clearviewcancer.com/service....
FYI - I was diagnosed with ET about 30 years ago. It progressed to PV about 7 years ago. I have lead a rich life and at age 65 continue to do so. If it turn out you do have a MPN, please know that while it is serious, it can be managed successfully for quite a long time.
As Hunter's already made mention, a few more specific tests might well be in order to see if you may have one of the known 'DRIVER' mutations like JAK2 for example.
Drinking loads of fluids before a blood test is something I must always do, as I too have a very poor vein architecture, with mainly only small surface veins available to collect from... Strangely, and very rarely a better one pops up but usually only when I am really well hydrated...
Hunter's wise & thoughtful response about finding out you too have joined our rather 'Exclusive MPN Club' need not be too concerning, as a great many of us here lead very active and productive lives, even if somewhat altered from a previous trajectory etc...
Welcome, and know you'll find a great deal of helpful information via the wonderful people who are members of this Forum...
Hello Seren1932, we all understand how you are feeling at the moment not knowing exactly why you are having these problems with raised platelets and symptoms, hopefully once you have had the blood tests you will get a definitive diagnosis/reason and can then move forward. Good advice to drink plenty before your next blood tests, it can help.
Let us know how you get on and if you are diagnosed with a MPN you are in the right place for advice and support. Best wishes, Maz
Yes, I did thank you and my platelets fell to 389, so no further action.
I do wonder though what is happening to my body as the right side is in so much pain and the nerve pain I feel is horrendous that it keeps me awake at night.
MS has sprung to my mind on occasions also. My Dr wants to take more bloods on Monday due to continuous pain on the right side of abdomen, leg and arm etc.
It is so very bizarre. One has pain but no alarm bells are ringing with tests, so I feel a bit of a fraud.
It is comforting to be asked how I am, so I appreciate that and I wish everyone on this site much love and good health.
