Dickensian Christmas project 1

I have done baby clothes until I am sick to death of them so I am starting a Christmas project, Dickensian Mice, which will include Carol singing mice, mice selling mince pies, just mice, mice, mice. I have to admit I have never tried anything so fiddly but I can’t help loving them. I have got tiny balls of wool everywhere but it’s helping me fight my panic attacks and keeping my mind off the horrid things in the world at the moment. I lost my Aunty to Covid 4 weeks ago and had to watch her funeral via video link. My horrid family told my cousin they didn’t have my contact details so he tried for a month to find me before the funeral. She was my Godmother as well as my Aunty and I would have been horrified if I missed the funeral. I don’t know how much more my family will do to hurt me.

The mouse is lovely. Hope the mouse project goes well.

I expect you can't fix the part of your family that are broken. Best to focus on the relationships that are worth having. Mean people are best avoided.

All the best my friend

Hi my friend, as far as I was concerned they were a distant nightmare but things happen where they pop up like a nightmare. Now it’s over I can lock the door to them again. Take care x

I love your mouse! It has so much character! You can put on your own plays once you have a bunch of them. I'm sorry things with your family have been so hard. That's never easy and even worse with Covid. I hope your mice keep your spirits up. Take care,Kim

Hi Jilly, they are both absolutely gorgeous. You have such creative hands. I can picture that busy little festive scene already. You’ll have to post some pics when it’s complete.

Sorry to hear about your Aunt too, deep condolences. Xx

Jilly those mice are so cute... I love it... I make mice too using plastic bottles; styrofoam balls and then I sew the clothes.... the crafting is so calming !!! You should sell them ... I would definitely buy one!!!! Post some more here!! AND so sorry to hear your auntie passed from this ugly insidious virus! AND sad about the family ... I have a couple of those in mine too ! Be well and post the mice pics once you’ve made more!!

They are beautiful! I have taken up knitting again during lockdown and my grandchildren have enough gloves and hats to last the winter out so I am now on my second jumper for myself. I will try to get the mice pattern, they look fun to do. I am so sorry to hear about your aunty and your family. I lost my brother to covid last week and I am really struggling with the shock of it. Take care xx

Oh my, condolences on the loss of your Aunt and having to deal with her family. I am glad you have a cousin willing to persevere and find you.

Love the mouse, the hat is especially charming. I didn't know you could buy knitting needles so small, it looks like he was knitted with darning needles.

They are just 3mm needles and double knit wool. You could use children’s knitting needles. My chair is surrounded by bags of wool and stuffing lol

You definitely have a talent Jill. Are you doing them to raise money for charity or just a project for christmas 2021? I'm sure people would snatch your hand off for something so cute and I would be first in line! Well done Jill. Tina.x🤗

Awwww thanks Tina. I am doing at least two sets, one for my best friend who is mouse crazy and one for ourselves for Christmas. I have promised Chris (Jediregect) some mice as well. I may do a set for auction on the site with funds to go to MacMillan Nurses, a charity very close to my heart. Let’s see how I get on xx

Very worthwhile Charity Jill which must be really struggling with Covid. I will certainly be keeping an eye out if you do auction a set. Well done you. Tina.xx🤗

Thanks Tina, our local hospital had to bring the MacMillan Nurses in to help cope with the Covid outbreak and I know they were with mum for her final hours when I couldn’t be. If I am not moused out I will do a set to raise funds for this site as well. Let’s see how I get along xx

I am sorry to hear that you have suffered another loss of someone close to you and I admire your courage in remaining so creative in the face of all that is going on.

Dear Jill, I just saw this post filled with such sad news. You’ve had such a hard year & losing two loved ones so close together must be excruciating. You’re an inspiration to us all. As for your horrid family, a psychiatrist once suggested I “divorce” my mom. I never did but should have. Your family is filled with fools not to treasure you. Sending lots of ehugs across the pond.
