Oxford Vaccine.

I had my Oxford Vaccine yesterday here in Guernsey, I have PV as such the, nurse told me as I am on already on an autoimmune med the vaccine might not be quite as effective, but would still give me a good level of protection. When it came to putting on a plaster to cover the 'wound' my nurse couldn't even see where the spot was. So I said stick it on anywhere and I will pull it off when I get home. It was totally painless, the jab , the area injected and NO soreness in my arm afterwards, so EVEYBODY get the jab . I said just get the vaccine in my arm. Then behind the PPE I recognised her and had quite a laugh. Strange that considering why I was there. I was so impressed with the set up and efficiency of the whole setup, and the health professionals, it gave me such a sense of trust and hope. As I had to drive home I had to sit for 15 minutes after the jab. The only thing that was different was in the afternoon I had my first ever 'NANA NAP', never slept in the afternoon in my life. Was it due to the tension of expectation or was I just so worried in the first place and relaxed once my bum hit the sofa?

I wonder how much the soreness is down to the person giving the injection?

I know when i have my blood taken, sometimes its as painless as anything and no bruising, and others in the same spot it feels like my arm is being ripped apart and have a big bruise.

Hi Paul, I think you are quite right about the person who administers of the injection, At my Covid19 jab the nurse told me take a deep breath, then she said exhale slowly, as I did she gave me the injection and I felt no pain or any results, at this point it took me back nearly 70 years, when I had Scarlet Fever, the district nurse came in every day to give me a jab, she would sit me on her lap and tell me she came from America and she used to have a floppy rag doll her grannie made her. She then said pretend your my rag doll and just go floppy, at this point she would jab me, I never felt a thing and since have always try to remember what that lovely lady told me , it has worked every time. Ahh memories eh?

So glad all went well with the Vaccine. I’ve also heard the level of immunity is affected due to our meds ,But any immunity

Is better than none ,

As for your nana nap it’s probably purely down to feeling relaxed after the 11 months of the uncertainty & now having some protection & long my it last . X

Take care x
