Very happy/unhappy!

Hello my MPN brothers and sisters,

Today I received information/invitation from NHS for Covid19 vaccine. I went and registered myself on the link they provided and got appointment for next week. But to my disappointment I got second appointment in fourteen weeks for second shot.

I am thankful for opportunity getting vaccine but to wait fourteen weeks for second shot, I am not happy at all. It seems that medical system can not differentiate between general population and vulnerable people, chronic patients difference, who need to have some priorities, in my opinion.

And to my confusion I don't know which vaccine I am getting. The question I have can we get Astra Zeneca Oxford or Pfizer one. Apparently they are both dead vaccine?? If anyone know more about this please share.

Wishing you well.

hello Light, very pleased to hear that you have your appointment for your 1st vaccine. With regards to your question about which vaccines we can have, both are ok to have. Maz

Thank you Maz. What about fourteen weeks waiting period between 1 & 2 shot? Do you know anything more about it?

I had the Oxford AZ jab yesterday. No side effects. No second jab appointment given. Lucky to have that sorted already.

On their website Pfizer stipulated that the second vaccination should be given 3 weeks after the first - that information has now been removed!

Yes I know that about Pfizer 3 weeks between 2 shots. I wonder whether our gov manage to interfere. What we can do about that I wonder?

Hi, where we live they haven't even started vaccinating the 80 year olds so it is good you have got the invite. My hematologist has telephoned and said it is ok for us to have either/any of the vaccinations so I shall go ahead. It is a bit concerning that there is so much contra information about all of this but I feel it is better to have it, when I have the invite which I expect will still be 3 weeks ahead than not have it. Take care all.

I agree but I am concerned like you are and this longer time between two shots (like 14 weeks) how that will affect us getting full coverage.

I agree about the length of time between 1st and 2nd jabs. I’ve been complaining ever since my 2nd was cancelled. 1st was on 30th Dec. Should have had 2nd this Wednesday but haven’t even been given any date for 2nd yet. It’s Pfizer and should be given within 3 weeks according to their advice.

That is seriously crazy. What do you do and where to go to complain to be successful ?

Nowhere to complain really. Told not to ring GP’s surgery, who are doing their best but they have to abide by Government rules. I emailed Boris with copy to local MP but just usual acknowledgement of receipt and no further reply.

So sorry to hear that. It is rather concerning when we don't have any help or support in this situation. I will pray for you that power of God prevail. Wishing you well.

they changed the advice - to get more people with some protection quickly - but should be within 13 weeks for 2nd shot is my understanding ! And so they should aim for 10-12 weeks in case of supply problems.
