Shielding again.

I've just received an email via the Government website to tell me to Shield again after the west Midlands were told we are going into Tier 4 at 1 minute past Midnight, letter to follow. It just feels like we're on a merry-go -round thats never ending but after seeing todays figures what can we expect. What makes my blood boil is watching all the masses of idiots at Birminghams Bull-ring on boxing day where it was reported that only 1 in 5 were not wearing masks and don't even mention social distancing. These same people will be the first to moan now we're going into tier 4. If you've got no regards for yourselves, please think of others, ie, your own Grandparents or other people with health problems. That day bargain hunting might have left you with more than you wished for!! Wishing all Mpn'ers the best for 2021. Tina.x🤗

Yes had mine too.

Sadly one of the impacts to me is I won't now be able to attend the funeral of someone close who died if covid.

My thoughts are with you.

Thats why I struggle with these changes.

Keeping a safe distance , wearing a mask , outside , to be together at a funeral can do no harm .

Its not outside thats the issue

I do hope you can find a way to pay respects

Cheers.

They understand which is important. Other than us and my sister in law on my wifes side, and my parents, pretty much everyone on both mine and my wifes side were self isolating or had covid over christmas which has probably made me want to stick to the shielding rules more. When it gets so close it makes you stop and think more.

So sorry to hear that paul. Thats the thing about it when people can't even pay their last respects and say a proper Goodbye to someone close. Best wishes. Tina.x

Sorry to hear this its just a nightmare.Ive been diagnosed with PV for 13 years and I've never had a letter or email telling me to self isolate this really worries me because I work in a SEN school where there can't be any social distancing between us and our pupils.

Yes its a bit confusing, in the first lockdown I was told to shield then in the second lockdown the email just gave general advice and to take steps to protect yourself. This time its back to official shielding I suspect because of this new mutant varient. We can only hope 2021 heralds a new start for us. What area are you from? Tina.🤗

Hi I'm from Walsall in the west Midlands and I'm currently taking 1000mg of Hydrea everyday,It will be a blessing when we can return to some sort of normality

Well hello neighbour. I'm in West Bromwich!! Do you mind if I ask which hospital you attend? Tina.🤗

Who would of thought we live so close🙂 I'm under the Manor hospital and my consultant is DR Tandon, where do you go?

I was at Sandwell for 11 years, now at the Q/ E in Birmingham. I understand your concerns being at being at a SEN school as my Grandson is Autistic and as to have a one to one in a mainstrean school and my daughter was looking at SEN schools in the surrounding area of Walsall as it happens. My daughter lives on the Great bridge road which comes under Walsall councill. I take Hydrea 1500 daily. I had to insist I stay at that level because the consultant wanted me to take an extra one. Im to fighting to keep my dose the same.I work with primary school children who have severe and multiple learning and behaviour issues, I love my job but my pupils love to climb all over us😂

My dose was higher, I was on the 4/3 alternative days but I finally put my foot down and told my Haemo I would only take 3. The most i've took for an extended period was 5 a day, seven days a week! I can understand you when you say how difficult it must be, my Grandson is social awkward with people because of his Autism but if he takes to an Adult he launches himself at them and climbs all over them! Have you mentioned the fact you work in a SEN School to your Consultant or Gp? Because it stands to reason you are at an higher risk of catching Covid. By the way I mentioned you to my daughter and she asked me to tell you, what a fantastic job you do as my Grandson as had 2 fantastic SEN teachers. 1 retired, the other 1 was agency. Tina.🤗

Couldn't agree more. Terrifying to see how many people ignore it all. A ray of hope, though: when walking on the street, we always give other people a wide berth, even on narrow pavements... and it's heartening to see how many people now do the same, exchanging cheery greetings as we waltz around each other. The penny may be dropping with some people. It certainly will have to if the death tool climbs higher.

Hi Robin. I'm presuming your a Brummie? Did you see the ridiculous videos of the Bullring on Boxing day. People were forming a queue outside Next at 4.00am! I have to admit in my town, West Bromwich I have noticed more people wearing face masks but still not enough. I had to go to the Bank christmas eve as I couldn't do what I had to do online, it was freezing cold which makes my breathing particular bad, when I got to the counter I was wheezing quite heavy and the cashier looked concerned and asked if I was alright? I explained I would be and told her I had Asthma and Copd and she replied" oh, do you know your exempt from wearing a mask?" I replied I chose to wear one even though its difficult somtimes. I know of people who won't wear one through sheer bloody mindedness, they will be the first to call 999 if they catch it! Best wishes for 2021 Robin. Tina.🤗 P.S. hope you are a Brummie and i've not insulted you!🤣🤣

Still not had an email or a letter for Tier 4 ....now it looks like we are going in a lockdown. Are we supposed to shield in tier 4 anyway ? Totally confused!!

Tico profile image
Tico in reply toalton

Yes, we were told to actually shield this time when we went into tier 4 unlike lockdown number 2 for a month were we only had general advice via email, text and a letter,ie, have medication delivered, do not go to pharmacy, work from home if you can and only go out when essential like shopping if no one can do it for you. This time full shielding was annnouned for tier 4 and especially now we've gone into total lockdown again. If you received a letter before, you will again shortly. I received an email when we went into tier 4 saying to shield and letter to follow. If unsure check U Gov website or check with your Gp. Best wishes. Tina.🤗
