Hi SodabreadHappy New Year to you, hope you're keeping well. Just an update said I'd let you know when I had vaccine.

I was due to have the vaccine today at my work place, I'd spoken to my consultant about a month again she said I should be fine to have the vaccine but she did say she can't guarantee I won't have a reaction just like anyone else. The Dr asked me if I'm feeling well today asked me if I'd had anaphylaxis, I explained 3 years ago I was on aspirin and alpha interferin, one evening my lips swelled and I came out in hives ended up in hospital was given an EpiPen. I was told be prepared you could have another reaction, within a week I had another reaction but this one was worse used the EpiPen taken into hospital. Seems I was allergic to aspirin and alpha interferin but it wasn't realised for about 3 months. I was eventually put on clopidogrel and hydroxycaramide. The Dr today said he wasn't happy to give me the vaccine he said he cannot guarantee I won't end up in hospital tonight. His told me to hold on for the Oxford vaccine. I'm happy to do that. But just because of what I went through doesn't mean everyone will be the same.

Take care

Thank you for your reply. You had a bad time with interferon. The hospital put me on that for a while but although I wasn’t allergic to it it made me feel ill.Hope you get your vaccine soon.

I am still waiting to hear although I still feel uneasy about it.

Take care and keep in touch

Thank you to all of you who replied to my message. It’s good news about the Oxford vaccine as well. I have been wondering if we might hear some observations from Guys Hospital or through MPN. I have been having some problems getting into Health Unlocked sometimes and picking up my messages so I am hoping I havnt missed anything important. Take care everyone and a happy and HEALTHY 2021.Sodabread
