Interesting presentation by Dr. Spivak. It really speaks to the importance of :First do no harm" that so many docs seem to forget. Dr. Spivak was my former MPN consultant prior to his semi-retirement. He took me off aspirin at age 63 saying "You really do not want to get a brain bleed. " Two weeks later, I was diagnosed with a hemorrhagic brain tumor surrounded by edema. Stopping aspirin was a really good thing. I really like his mantra that PV is not a monolithic disease. Each person has to be evaluated individually. It is what we all need and deserve.
