Hi all started peg about 10 weeks ago, previous i was on interferon 2a doing fine, then was stopped hospital could not get supply of 2a,,just after a bit of Advice, peg stopped at the moment, dose was too high, platelets went too low,90, 120, 160, now 260, leaving another 3 weeks to see if they keep going up, i had a mini stroke when my platelets were 800 ten years ago so i am concerned can platelets go up quickly over a few weeks, also how long does peg interferon stay in the body. Thanks x

Peg, interferon
Thanks for sharing that’s interesting research
As far as I know the half life of peginterferon is 5 days
It does sound like you dose was too high. Perhaps a short PEG vacation will be a good thing. Not sure where you are, but it is troublesome if your hospital can't get a med you need. Were you told what the issue is? Is this related to interferons being used to treat COVID?
Whatever the cause, I do hope you get access to what you need. If necessary, there are other options (e.g. Ruxolitinb), but hopefully you can stick with something you know works for you.
Thanks for reply. I live in liverpool, England, consultant just said cant get anymore stopped making it.guttered really was stable for 11 years on interferon alpha 2b then changed to interferon 2a, and now peg interferon, but stopped at present. Feeling a bit worried really till am sorted.
I went through the same problem last autumn (I live in the NE) and another member of this forum who had the same issue rang Roche the makers, to discover they are still making it until at least 2025. The problem is with wholesalers and pharmacy. Because it was highlighted to the doctors they got Peg Interferon for me a month later. If you really need it, and feel up to it, I would push for it. Good luck.
Thank you i will speak to the consultant x
