Text or no text?

So far I haven't had a text about isolating, but I am doing so anyway. I spoke to my specialist nurse about 10 days ago, she told me I wasn't extremely high risk as I am on Anagrelide which doesn't lower immunity as much as hydroxy, but to err on the safe side and stay in. So I am doing as I am told. I've been catching up on jobs like sorting my wardrobe out. I've got a big bag of stuff for the charity shop when they re-open. I've also been writing short stories, reading and sewing. My husband has registered as a volunteer with this new NHS thing, he's waiting to be "verified". We're lucky we have a nice garden and I'm able to sit just outside, nowhere near anyone else. We have children next door but I haven't seen them, I think they're playing on their xbox 24/7!

I am upset at not being able to see our new granddaughter, I've only seen her once and we had a visit planned, they live nearly 300 miles away. But, thank goodness for facetime!

We're all in the same boat, hopefully we'll all get off it safely at the other side.

Stay safe everyone.

Hi Lizziep, good to hear you are doing ok, and yes, Facetime is brilliant especially now, so important to keep in touch with family and friends. With regards to your clothes and sewing, you could always make something different from them, either some tops or even a bag or two, but enjoy your sewing, reading and writing your stories. Best wishes, Maz

Maz, please can you clarify the situation for all of us in this MPN community about whether we are in the high risk group concerning the Coronavirus pandemic. There is a lot of confusion around this by our members and they need to be reassured.

It also shocks me that there is such disparity by the medical establishment (also communicated by our members) about what is considered a 'cancer'. Why is there not uniformity across the board when the WHO states that MPN's are, but uniformed doctors say they are not.

Especially at this crucial time we need and deserve a straightforward answer so that we can be fully informed to take responsiblity for safeguarding our health and welfare. Please ask your learned friends and associates to clear up this ambiguity once and for all. Thank you.

I did put some clothes to one side to make other things with. I make lap quilts for dementia patients, also reusable shopping bags. I do have quite a lot of fabric, my husband thinks it breeds. However if I live to be around 180 years old I'm sure I'll have been able to use most of it by then! Stay safe x

Aww Lizzy that's a real shame not being able to visit , , it's one of the worst aspects of this horrendous time being separated from loved ones . . Good though that you're keeping busy and doing some worthwhile work for others. ,

Take care esp as your hubby is volunteering, , as he may pose a risk to you depending on his role. . .

What is the theme of your short stories ?

Regards - Chris x

I write all sorts of things, often humorous, sometimes murders! I enjoy the thought process of writing a story. I haven’t got enough concentration for a book though! I’ve had one of my stories on bbc radio.

My husband is going to ask whether he will pose a danger to me if he gets as far as being chosen. (Makes a change from me being a danger to him!)

We already do quite a bit for a friend who is 97, she lives alone and doesn’t have any family she is finding isolation very difficult, leaving her shopping on the step instead of going in and spending time with her is very sad, it’s taking its toll on her already. Stay safe. 😁

Sounds good, well done you. . I used to write a bit , but I find concentrating for any length of time difficult now. And I need inspiration from somewhere or something. Haven't written any verse for ages, maybe this next few months will tempt me.

Such a shame about your elderly friend, we have a 93 yr old neighbour who is on her own.

As this isolation goes forward I think I'm in danger from my wife too as I'm already annoying her a tad. . . . Cheers
