As I understand it; my ET CALR won’t kill me. It does put me a greater risk for heart attacks and strokes along with every other cardio vascular issue.
I was going to be pushed on cholesterol meds as my numbers remained high for several years. I am excited to share my results following 6 weeks of a plant based diet. I can’t cure my ET but I can make it harder to get me. My cholesterol is in normal range....no new meds for me!!!

You are so right when it comes to cardiovascular risks in patients with ET. I was told exactly that too. I want to treat my ET CALR too with diet. Can you tell me exactly what you eat please. I am 67 and only on aspirin and don't want chemo meds either. I am still very active with my job.
I am not a plant based diet expert. You should be able to find plenty of information online. I suggest watch “The Game Changers” on Netflix. That’s what got me started. After 6 weeks I have zero craving for meat, cheese is the tough part for me. I am 42 and very active with work and activities. I found an increase in energy since the change. I avoid meat, fish, poultry, eggs, and dairy. I’m not vegan so if it takes eggs to make bread so be it, I just avoid large quantities. I hope this helps.
My hematologist said the lifestyle is healthy if done properly. He didn’t suggest it but doesn’t oppose it. You should do your own research. You will learn more about nutrition on your own than from most doctors. My doctor spent more time discussing medication options than diet. I found this option to lower cholesterol because I hate the idea of being on more meds. I can only tell you it works for me.
Outstanding!! Eating a health diet and paying attention to basic nutrition is so very important - particularly when managing a chronic disease. Way to go!!
