I am currently on Pegylated Interferon and we are considering moving to Scotland, and wondered if this drug is readily available in hospitals there. I know that not all hospitals here in England provide it and hence the question regarding Scotland. Whilst this is a general query about Scotland we have an interest in Perthshire. Any information, either specific or general, would be appreciated.

Availability of Interferon Scotland
It was certainly available in Edinburgh 4 years ago though I am no longer on it. If you are thinking of Perthshire possibly you might be referred to Perth Royal Infirmary or Ninewells in Dundee (NHS Tayside). The latter is the bigger centre. Might be worth phoning/emailing their haematology department and seeing if they have a MPN clinical nurse specialist who might be able to advise. Alternatively your present haematologist might be able to do this for you .
Thank you so much for responding. Sorry I've taken so long to get back to you, we were away. I will take up your suggestions about contacts. Good to know that it is, at least available in some hospitals. Have a happy and relaxing festive season.
No problem - the more I thought about it the more I thought the haematologist is the best bet - they go to conferences/trained with people etc. I've had an MPN for 35 years, now post ET MF and only drug there was problem with getting was anagrelide and it is now licensed by the Scottish Medical Consortium (Scottish equivalent to NICE) On ruxolitinib now and again no problem prescribing. Perthshire certainly would be a lovely place to live! Best wishes for Christmas and New year. Diana
