Thanks Steve.

This article reminded me of the fact that I was diagnosed with PV right after completing 6 months Atkins diet. Who knows, it might play some role.

Cheers,

Malek.

Yes hey there Malek... :-)

I believe that anything that reduces inflammation has to play a role in our recovery potential, in my view...

Best wishes

Steve

I’m all for anti inflammatory diet and think that evidence of its benefits will increase over time. Exercise is also important.

Re Keto, I’m not convinced. I think we also need to consider the importance of fibre and its benefits including on gut bacteria.

I think anti inflammatory is a clear winner. Everything else should not be too exclusive. We just don’t know exactly what our bodies need

Best Paul

Hey Paul... :-)

Hope you are doing well...

The only claims being made by adopting such a diet (ketogenic) is that it may assist in regenerating damaged tissue in cancer patients...

"... the researchers showed that a ketogenic diet enhanced this effect, and... on such a diet were better able to regenerate new intestinal tissue. When the researchers fed the mice a high-sugar diet, they saw the opposite effect: Ketone production and stem cell function both declined"

However, and just in response to anti-inflammatory diet, anything that can assist in reducing inflammation has to have some benefits, in my view...

Best wishes Paul

Steve

All that this research looked at were stomach stem cells. I appreciate that “stem cells” have gained almost magic status but there is nothing in this that would directly help MPN patients. That said, further research may be of more relevance to the MPN community.

Interesting. I have followed a low carb, but not fully ketogenic diet for several years. Thanks for the link.
