ET JAK2 positive and refused a scan

Has anyone who has already had a TIA with high platelets ever been refused a scan. I was at A&E this morning with a suspected torn muscle in my calf. The doctor said they THINK it is a torn muscle. My question to them was so your not sure. I explained that I was ET JAK2 + and asked for a scan to rule out the chance of it being a blood clot as I have high platlets. The doctor had a word with the scanner department and they said it also sounds like a pulled calf muscle. I was then told I am not allegeable for a scan as I don’t meet the criteria.

Hi there - a difficult one. When you went to A & E, was it because you had injured yourself and that was why it was a suspected torn calf muscle, or did you just develop pain in your calf out of the blue? That was the question that came to mind when I read your post. I'm no doctor so can't really offer advice but am including a link to NICE guidelines on whether to treat for a DVT. You might find these helpful.

With fingers crossed that it isn't and best wishes.
