Good news!

The preliminary results from my 800 calorie per day diet are very promising. After 3.5 weeks my blood sugar and cholesterol have both come down significantly and I have shed 14 lbs! The hba1c test that my GP was using and alerted her on blood sugar levels is apparently not reliable in my case as I have blood transfusions every 3weeks and these literally cloudy the waters! The blood being tested is not all actually mine and the hba1c test apparently measures overall blood sugar for the past few weeks. My home use glucose monitor is showing a steady decline in fasting blood sugar - now in normal range - so I am happy with that. I am an absolute convert to Mediterranean style eating as it just delicious ! Seems like win win all round😀😀. best wishes to all xx

Hi Jan.

That is amazing. Well done you.....are you feeling better for the new regime? Great to hear you have reduced your blood sugar , I'm so impressed, my diabetes is fortunately controlled by my diet, never had to have meds for it, to have more medication added to the existing ones has been my motivation for keeping my sugar , (hidden or otherwise ) as low as poss. Now have to do something re cholesterol which is too high.

Love to know which diet plan , did you follow Mediterranean reciepes , or as a written as a plan where , say you looked at Friday for instance , and all meals were written down for you. I cannot be given any leeway on a diet I like the disapline of being told. "These are the meals you eat today" . Hope some of that makes sense !!

You are obviously a disciplined woman. Unlike myself who veers off course easily.....

Thank you so much for sharing your very impressive results.

Best wishes to you too. Sandy x

Hi Sandy. My initial information came from Dr Michael Moseley’s The Fast 800 diet. I was motivated by not wanting more meds too. There are menu plans in the book and I found ‘Carbs & Cals’ website very useful too although the support offered on Moseley’s website I thought was rather expensive. Good luck if you go for it. xx

Hey how are you feeling? How is the diet?

Hi. I’m feeling good. I probably need blood tomorrow but as I have lost 9kg and am still loving the diet I feel like I’m taking more control. My blood sugar has come down a bit each week and I will get my cholesterol checked tomorrow too. I am just starting week 7 today. My haematologist was very pleased with my attitude and weight loss. I have to have a skin biopsy on two areas of my face at the end of this month which I’m not looking forward to very much but my family keep piling on their good news - promotions, proposal and I have a son playing for England over 35s in the touch rugby world championships in Kuala Lumpur at the end of the month. He lived in San Francisco four years ago and played for the USA so I expect he is in for some ribbing this year! At least he will meet up with some old buddies.

Hope you are doing well too. Best wishes, Jan x
