Hi just wondering if restless leg syndrome is more common in people with pv. It's been driving me mad especially late evening. I have to stay on my feet and keep moving but this is leaving more even more exhausted on top of the pv fatigue. Anyone aware of any treatment which might help. Here's hoping!
Legs driving me mad: Hi just wondering if restless... - MPN Voice
Legs driving me mad
My husband has PT but I read the blog for information and to help others. I struggle with restless leg and I take a medicine called carpidopa levodopa. Taking that has helped me tremendously and when I can’t get it to stop completely I fill the tub with the hottest water I can tolerate and soak them for five or 10 minutes. The same doctor prescribed a second medicine called roll bread not taking that has helped me tremendously and when I can’t get it to stop completely I fill the tub with the hottest water I can tolerate and soak them for five or 10 minutes. The same doctor prescribed a second medicine called ropinirole if the first one doesn’t help enough and you can add a half pill with the other. Rls Restless leg syndrome has driven me crazy and I’ve gone through a great deal to find solutions. these definitely work Let me know if I can offer any other advice, best wishes with your legs and with your mpn
You have my sympathy!
My husband suffers quite severely with it. He is prescribed Gabapentin and more recently, Pramipexole too.
Hi there, I have always had restless legs but it is a lot worse since being on treatment for ET. I am too exhausted to be on my feet constantly so the best coarse of action for me is to not think about it. ( just writing this is setting it off! ) but when it's bad I stretch my legs and feet until they are almost hurting from lots of stretching, put some cooling gel ( my favourite is Decleors circulagel) on then force myself to keep still while occupying my mind by watching a good film or something. My mum used to put cold flannels on hers.
P.S. I also seem to have this developing in my hands and arms!!
Dear Jackgirl10,
Please try to find the cause and treat it, not just cover the symptoms. try to avoid adding more chemicals to your body. There are no meds without side effects! My daughter had this and it went away with diet, nutrition and stress reduction. There are many causes for this: anemia, magnesium/folate and/or iron deficiency, veins that aren‘t working properly in the legs (when my legs get restless, I put on my compression socks also in the night), electrolyte imbalances. These are all really easy to fix. I’m sure there are more reasons and possibilities. Doctors‘ pills should always be the last resort. We want to keep our system running as safely as possibly. I hope this helps!
I found that certain antihistamines gave me restless legs when I don’t normally suffer from the problem. If I’m honest I had not taken the problem very seriously in the past but once having experienced it I know it is definitely not a joke! I wonder what meds you are on and if any of them could be the cause?

Oh yes! It’s horrible. Last night I felt like mine were going to jump out of bed, they jerked so strongly. I don’t have PV but too many red blood cells, cause unknown! If I get up and walk about for a few minutes it seems to help. I think the more anaemic I am, the worse they are.
Every sympathy Aime xx😾😸
I’m going to my GP tomorrow for the same issue. I’ve been diagnosed with PV for over 2 years. This symptom started with me a month ago. I have found a cause yet. My legs are normal when I stand. It’s a very strange and sore sensation.
Magnesium flakes in the bath and magnesium oil after the bath on legs helps for me..Holland and Barrett have a good range of magnesium product
