Can you choose your heamotologist or do you have to be with the heamotologists in your local hospital?

My reason for asking is I've read on this site about a heamotologists that is an expert in Mpn,s- he's not located in my area but not too far away.

I believe you can ask your GP to refer you to the mpn specialist although my haematologist referred me to one. Good luck. F.

You can be referred to any consultant at any hospital of your choice.

Hi, you can definitely ask to be referred to a specialist of your choice. I would thoroughly recommend it.

I did.

I’m sure Maz will be able to help.

My GP referred me to the MPN specialist of my choice after lots of glitches with the local service provider. It has been a game changer - well worth asking 😊

This is your life, and yes it can help to get a second opinion, especially from a MPN expert even if you must pay out of pocket- this is one time when it is important

I agree with whats been said - you can be referred to whichever consultant you want, even if they are not in yr NHS area. Well worth it. Go for it.
