Criticall illness insurance... stick at it!

Hi all my MPN friends. I wanted to share a success story around critical illness insurance and encourage those of you who have it to make a claim! Thanks to a previous trail on here around changes in the protocol in British insurers to recognise MPNs as blood cancers (Not nice for us but if you're wanting to claim so you can make life a little easier, I'll go with it!) I got in touch with Phoenix who had turned down a claim from me in 2015.

After one email to Association of British Insurers (ABI) to clarify their position, I wrote to Phoenix, who agreed my claim should have been accepted.

The process took 2 months, not too bad. Phoenix paid out in full, backdated interest paid to my date of diagnosis and refunded all premiums since date of diagnosis.

If anyone wants more info or the email address of the very helpful person in ABI please contact me.

We take out insurance to help us when we need it - it's good to know it can work!!

Enjoy the weekend whatever you do.

Brilliant! Well done. Without this site I too would never have made a successful claim for CI. It has made a significant difference to us. Spread the word!
