Biopsy aftercare

Hi Everyone, newly diagnosed with ET, platelets are settling around 595K but my white count is also high and ferritin is low so the consultant suggested a bmb and hip bone biopsy to confirm diagnosis as I am also JAK2+ but present EV symptoms too.

I like to swim and bath and forgot to ask when I can resume these things, my biopsy site is healing well and I am 4 days post procedure.

I’m presuming I will be told the findings at my next Haematologist appointment, just wondering what else they can discover from the procedure.

TIA x

Hi, think you need to give it a week before you go swimming.

Hi Tia welcome to our forum, glad to hear that your biopsy site is healing well, I don't know about bathing and swimming, but probably best to not go swimming until it is properly healed, I would think that having a bath or shower will be ok as you won't be subjecting yourself to germs from other people, as you would in a swimming pool. Have a read of the information on our website, mpnvoice.org.uk you will find lots of very useful information on there which may help you. If you have any questions just ask, we are here to help, support and advise you. Best wishes, Maz
