Oh what a relieve. I’m in Cyprus and within 24 hours of arrival, THAT ITCH has vanished. This same thing happen when I was in Crete last year. Anyone had the same experience or know why this happens? Should phototherapy do the same thing? Oh happy days.

Hi Eleanor,

I don’t know why it happens or if phototherapy would do the same thing, but I always find when I am abroad in a warm climate I can swim and shower without any itching at all. I don’t know if it is because the air is warmer? I just know I love it and make the most of it. I don’t swim in this country because of the itching afterwards.

Enjoy your hols.

I’m glad to know I’m not alone.

Exposure to a certain UV spectrum light does help the itching. I could get this on the NHS. I just go and get a suntan when I am abroad and I am able to swim.

Thrilled for you, what a simple solution. I don’t suffer from this. I have ET. It’s good to know about this for future reference. I wonder if research has been done on this. Does the itch return as soon as you return home?

For me the joint and bone pain needs to disappear with being abroad. It did before I was on the hydroxy but this pain is unbearable now. It seems that all my previous pain has multiplied 10 fold plus and the sweats are taking over again. Feeling so ill all over with these excruciating aches and pains.

Oh no. Maybe another drug would help. I wish you well

That’s beautiful Cyprus for you, I used to live there ten years ago! Wish I was still there. Have a great holiday !

Hi. That’s really interesting. The other week when we got some hot sunshine in the UK I also got really itchy! I tend to get a bit of post shower itchiness but I have found ways to manage that. This was different and would strike at any time of the day. And it was quite unpleasant. I think I may have been dehydrated and I also think when my skin gets a bit damp and sweaty it sets up a reaction. Not sure that I’m looking forward to the projected heatwave we’re due! Anyhow, enjoy your vacation.

I had the same experience,I couldn’t understand why I could shower and swim abroad but not here.

I have recently started on Ruxilitinib and my itching has almost gone🤞🏻And my depression has lifted a lot too

Can’t say I like the weight I’m piling on though 😞

Eleanor, I have the same experience when abroad in warm climates. Swimming in the sea, showering, swimming in the pool, no itching at all. Sadly, it comes back after holidays are over. As others say, there has to be something in the UV spectrum. Enjoy your holiday. x

Have a great time, minus the itching. I’m the opposite I seem to itch worse when I sweat more but you enjoy, forget about PV! Best wishes Aime xx😺😺

Yes UV light helps but there is a limit on how much phototherapy anyone can have as it raises the risk of skin cancers. Enjoy the relief whilst it lasts
