Glitchy gums!

I’m on hydroxy & aspirin for ET & am Jak2+. I have random episodes where suddenly my gums bleed for no reason . It’s unrelated to eating, exercising or talking !!! My wonderful dentist has checked & double checked - no signs of infection or inflammation . Anyone else had this ?

I have that too. Have done for a while. My Dentist suggested flossing more, I brush twice daily anyway and use a gum protection mouthwash. They seem to be better, they said for me it could be part of the medication (warfarin) however it may be symptomatic of the PV Jak 2+. I hope you get it sorted soon. I would definitely advise a trip to the dentist to ensure there is nothing else going on. Good Luck!

Thankyou for your kind reply 👍I do all of the above & some extras - all to no avail . Dentist has been meticulous & keeps checking . Maybe our meds are like Heineken & get to the places that other ones don’t !!!

My peridontal specialist said moth wash short term only. Reason being your bugs will become immune it it.

I would definitely see a peridontal specialist. My gums have gone from 4 and5 to 1 and 2. This means I now have extremely healthy teeth and gums. I’ve just replied via a lengthy post laying out my tedious but worth while dental routine

Please could you explain what the numbering is related to as I’ve not encountered it before . If you could find a web link that would be great . Many thanks

Hi don’t teally understand it but it is a ratio between gum and bone line. Numbers 1 to 2 indicate near to perfect. Beyond that Indicates inflamed gums . Hence bleeding.

Thankyou for that - I appreciate the time you’ve taken to get back to me 😊

Every time in the Uk the dentist records the health of your gums. Mine due to my new regime are perfect.

I have PV with Jak2 positive, taking hydroxy. My gums were starting to bleed and the dentist emphasised flossing -I also bought a WaterPik which cleans between the teeth and also massages the gums a bit. At the next 6 month dental check he said they were much better and certainly I've had not more bleeding. (He didn't mention grades, but I shall ask next time!)

Thankyou for your reply . Have had a variation of the water oil & it sadly hadn’t made a difference for me - but your reply may well help others who have the same issues 👍😊
