Recently I have been diagnosed with ET AND JAK2+. I am on baby aspirin twice daily. I have had a few times ringing in my ears also I am beginning to get palpitations. And I have a weird sensation in my neck that when I make a certain movement I get a weird throat pain that I would not know how to describe. Almost like a cramp pain in my throat that shoots up to my head and I panic when this happens. Also I get dizzy. Not sure if all these symptoms are common or lead to something else. Please help! I am freaking out a bit

Jak2+ ET. MPN
Hey Cathy...
I understand how you are feeling, as I was also initially diagnosed w/ ET & my Blood Platelets (BPTs) were well over 1.7M.
The low dose aspirin was my best friend in that instance. I was placed on 100mg daily, & eventually they helped prevent me having a further TIA (minor brain stroke), as I had suffered one prior to my diagnosis just a year earlier.
Best thing is to listen to your medical team, & follow their instructions.
I am assuming, that you have had blood tests, how high are your platelets?
And how old are you Cathy?
The reason I ask about your age is that sometimes, depending upon one's age, (being under 50), all that is prescribed initially is Aspirin.
As you will no doubt see very shortly, there are a great many people here w/ ET, & they will be sure to offer you there empathy & support. MPN Voice was the best thing I have discovered since commencing this adventure...
It was comforting to learn that this MPN condition can be managed, & most of us can actually lead near normal lives...
Best wishes

Hi Cathy,
So sorry to hear of your distressing symptom burden.
I know ‘ringing in the ears’ can be a side effect of taking aspirin. However, only a medical professional will be able to determine the cause of this and your additional symptoms. I would book an appointment with your GP to discuss this.
Keep us updated and try not to worry too much.

Hi Cathy, sorry to hear this, you should see your GP about this. Best wishes, Maz
I too have ET and Jak2+ and take aspirin and hydroxy but I am 72. I get the noise in my ears which has been put down to the aspirin, but any of your other symptoms. Talk to your haematologist about your concerns as he/she will know how to help.
