Changing from Pegasys to peginterferon

Need to halve my dose from 90 to 45mcg due to abnormally high liver tests. Anyone made the switch? Will it be as easy to take as Pegasys has been?

Hi Mary

Unfortunately I can’t help with your question but can you please clarify the difference between pegasys and peg Interferon as I always thought they were the same thing?

Thanks

Pete

Hi Mary

I made the move from Interferon (pen) to Pegasus (pre filled syringes). I had less side effects and needed to inject less frequently.

My dosage on the Pegasus (Peginterferon Alfa-2a) has kept reducing 180 - 90 - 45. Each time I had no side effects. The only difficulty initially was being able to get a pre-filled syringe with the correct dose. I currently receive 90 mcg pre-filled syringes & just dispense half the dose & sadly have to bin the rest. Wasteful I know!

I hope this helps to answer your question.
