Still trying to figure out best time of day to take meds. I’m on 2 at this time wondering if anyone takes before bed and if so aren’t you supposed to drink lots of water with it

Hi Raffles. Just reading your previous posts. I have ET mpl (exon 10) gene also.

Diagnosed in Sept 16. My platelets are almost 1.2 million. Just started hydroxy on Monday.

Regards

Mandy

Hi Mandy, we’re in the minority ! 1.2 million is pretty high, in a few months that will halve. I’ve been reasonably ok with hydroxy. Hope it goes well - Raff

Hi. I've just started on hydroxycarbamide. Day three! I was going to take them in the morning but having read the posts here I switched to the evening. 10pm to be precise! I thought the evenings were a little more routine and calmer than the mornings for me. I was a bit worried by all the drinking. But actually I've had two nights sleeping through - so that's an upside! I take the pill with one glass of water and then quickly drink another. I'm hoping that the risk of fatigue manifests itself in a good night's sleep. We'll see what happens tonight!

Good luck. I know lots of water is essential I have been drinking at least 8 cups of water a day. I was taking 2 together but switched to one twice a day

Morning and after dinner. 2 were to much had some dizzy spells.

Early days so we’ll see what happens. I’m due for a check up in a fortnight and review in four weeks. I just want to get those pesky platelets down. 1700 is a little disconcerting!

Hi Petsch. I started my tabs on Monday evening. Taking them about 8ish. I felt fine until yesterday when I took a real bad headache and felt lousy all of last night and this morning. Improved during the day but i have started to feel bit off in the last hour or so again. Suppose it takes time for your body to get used to the meds and hopefully will settle down soon.

Hope you find what works best for you.

Take care

Mandy

I’ve been on Hydroxy for nearly five years now. I take mine about 9pm ( I go to bed about 10ish) along with my other meds. I only drink one glass of water with them but do drink 2 or 3 during the evening. I used to take them in the morning but changed when I thought it may be contributing to mid afternoon tiredness!
