Hot weather

Hi everyone. We are all suffering from the heat and from what you say it is not helped by our condition and meds. My own solution is to draw the curtains, put the fan on, sit in my undies and keep a wet tea towel around my neck, replenishing the water frequently. It works for me!!! Good wishes to all of you. MAry

Very true Mary this hot spell is certainly hardgoing for us MPNers!! While all your friends are happy to see high temps we just want to escape it!! I just do all i can early morning and try keep out of the heat by late morning lots of water and a lovely tower fan! So glad i have this week of work as my biggest challenge has been working in this heat i just do part time in the afternoon but an office of glass walls with no air con is not good if you have ET for sure! Nice we all understand each other on here and can swop notes isnt it!

The JML cool mats are great, especially at night on the pillow

I find it very embarrassing as my face resembles a boiled lobster in all but the slightest warmth. I celebrated my granddaughter's second Birthday yesterday at my daughter-in-law's parents and I was almost the same colour as the 🎈!! Her mum very kindly even went a found me a parasol to keep the sun off. I just wanted to immerse my face in the paddling pool!

I have discovered microfibre towels that cool around the neck and have been recommended a frog togg towel that does the same thing without soaking your clothes apparently so I have sent for one of those.

I love to see the sun as it is so cheering but at the same time I am beginning to dread it! I actually felt glad to see it raining this morning. How sad is that!!

Hope you are all finding ways to keep cool. Best wishes. Jan

Hi Beetle, please let me know what you think of the frog togg towel. Is the microfiber towel you've used the kind you snap to get it to get cold? I appreciate any info you can give. Thanks, Katie

Hi Katie. The frog togg towel has not arrived from USA yet. I have seen them advertised in U.K. but at an extortionate price. I'll let you know how I get on when it arrives. Yes the one I have you have to flick to re-cool it but it does make my clothes wet too.

Hahaha! The frog togg has just arrived and it's pouring with rain here and cool! Typical! I'll let you know how it goes though

Maybe just owning it will change your weather to cooler air?😃

I think you could be right. In which case it's an excellent product for us heat intolerants but not everyone else😂😂

The frog togg towel is quite thick. It is actually some sort of sponge. It feels quite firm around your neck compared with microfibre towels but it works! It does not make your clothes all wet either. I would recommend it given the above provisos. Hope this is helpful. Best wishes, Jan

Good god!

The images that conjures up are wonderful. I can't stand the heat that I used to be able to either but fortunately we live in the Lakes which is always about 5 to 8 degrees cooler than anywhere else!

It's a lovely day today here, blue skies but a balmy 18 degrees. I can tolerate up to about 28 - but humidity kills me off. Dry heat? No probs.

xx

NOT MANY CLOTHES AND WARM WEATHER DON'T MIX WELL WITH OUR LEATHER CHAIRS! I WOULD HAVE TO BE PEELED OFF!

GOT A LOVELY COOL AIR FAN SO CLOTHES ARE REMAINING ON (DON'T WANT TO FRIGHTEN ANYONE!)

MAIN PROBLEM IS KEEPING OUR DOGS COOL! ESPECIALLY THE ONE THAT KEEPS LAYING UPSIDE DOWN IN THE SUN!

Hi. In the States through Amazon you can buy inexpensive "misters" that you attach to your garden hose and it sprays a cool, very fine mist that lowers the temperature significantly. People buy and use them for chickens they raise, pets and themselves. I think they're about $19.00. Don't know how your dogs would respond to it but it might help. Good luck. Katie

Thank you. We do sometimes use a fine spray from the hose pipe but they prefer getting in the pond or stream then shaking the dirty water allover the place, then they have to be hosed again! 😄

The weather here is back to the usual cloud and showers now.

They sound like fun dogs. Rascals, but fun. What breed are they?

Jess is an 11 year old collie cross (rescue) and Poppy is an 8 year old springer/labrador cross. Both spoilt rotten!
